The Property Development & Management division acquires strategic property for the Port Authority in order to facilitate the growth and development of our transportation assets. It also sells the Port Authority’s excess property.

The Port Authority owns several parcels of property throughout Lucas County. Parcels are zoned industrial, commercial, and agricultural and are available for sale or lease. Contact the Port Authority’s Property Development & Management department for a list of available properties.

Foreign Trade Zones

The Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) is one of the most valuable tools utilized by Port Authority tenants, manufacturers, and shippers.

An FTZ is an area physically located in the United States, but considered outside United States Custom territory. Because of the zone’s unique trade designation, goods can be stored, exhibited, repackaged, manipulated, manufactured, or mixed with other foreign/domestic merchandise within the zone — duty free. Duty is paid only when goods are moved out of the FTZ.

To learn more about how a Foreign Trade Zone can benefit your business, contact the Property Management & Development division.
