Aviation Services
Operations
The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority manages the two major aviation assets in the region, Toledo Express Airport and Metcalf Field. Both assets are owned by the city of Toledo and leased to the Port Authority, which has responsibility for day-to-day operations of both facilities.
There are four areas of aviation that all airports strive for:
Toledo Express successfully sustains all four areas of aviation, generating an annual economic impact of over $640 million to our region.
Our cargo growth has been exceptional. Air Cargo World Magazine recently listed Toledo Express as one of the World’s Top 50 Cargo Airports and as the 18th Largest in North America.
The evolution of Bax Global with Schenker Logistics and the addition of Emirates Sky Cargo and a neutral air cargo handler, LGSTX has literally placed Toledo, Ohio on the map for the movement of air freight around the world. A 5000 square foot refrigerated warehouse that opened in 2008 further accentuates the cargo offerings at Toledo Express and the facility accepted over 1.3 million pounds of pharmaceuticals during the first year of operation.
