Economic Impact Study

An economic impact study conducted by the University of Toledo in 1997 makes a compelling case for the vital role the Port Authority plays in cultivating economic growth and development in the region. The highlights of that study are as follows:

ï The Port Authority had a combined economic impact of more than $866 million

ï The Port Authority’s impact was spread across the public and private sectors and across several counties in Ohio.

ï The Port Authority was responsible for generating more than 6000 jobs through its business activities.

ï The Port Authority helped create or retain more than 10,000 jobs in Northwest Ohio.

ï The total economic impact of the Port of Toledo was $518 million.

ï The total economic impact of Toledo Express Airport and Metcalf Airport was $155 million.

ï The Surface Transportation & Logistics Division, through its assets and administration, had a total economic impact of $22.4 million.
