TOLEDO, Ohio, April 19, 2013– Travelers in northwest Ohio are beginning to see that they can get to more destinations from the Toledo Express Airport (TOL). March 2013 reports show that total passenger traffic at TOL was up 8.95 percent over March 2012, indicating the first month-over-month increase in passenger traffic since March 2009. Competitive prices, nonstop flights to vacation destinations, hub connectivity, community support and affordable parking all contribute to the airport's growing popularity. A total of 18,766 passengers chose to fly through Toledo Express Airport last month. Allegiant, whose passenger totals were up nearly 44 percent, carried a record 12,644 total passengers for the month of March.

The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority welcomes the first overseas freighter of the season with a traditional welcoming that kicks off the 2013 shipping season for our region. The St. Lawrence Seaway closed for the season on December 30, 2011, with the westbound vessel Algoma Spirit reaching Lake Ontario at 7:54 a.m. after having transited the locks on the St. Lawrence River. The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority has issued an $8 million taxable bond within the Northwest Ohio Bond Fund Program to Materion Brush Inc., formerly known as Brush Wellman Inc. The bonds were used to acquire a 125,400 square foot facility and for the purchase of new machinery and equipment. The 10-year bond, which closed at the end of April 2011, has a fixed interest rate of 4.90 percent.

TOLEDO, Ohio, Oct. 8, 2010 – The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority officially acquired the historic Jeep Parkway property on Fri., Oct. 3, 2010 for a purchase price of $95,000. The 111 acre site located at 1000 Jeep Parkway will undergo an environmental remediation process over the next 18 to 24 months and redeveloped thereafter.

The funds that the Willis B. Boyer received were strictly reserved for historic properties in the State of Ohio. Last August, the State of Ohio received $1.8 million in funding through the Recovery Act from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for Brownfield Revitalization efforts. Up to $200,000 in Recovery Act funding was made available to eligible nonprofit and local government entities for remediating asbestos in historic buildings, which contributes to the economic revitalization of communities, vibrant neighborhood centers, and health and safety for occupants and visitors of these buildings.

The vessel will be firing a salute from her main battery of six-pounder carronades at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2010. The Privateer Lynx was hired to train the cast and crew of the hit movie, Pirates of the Caribbean.

Introduction: On October 15, 2009 the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority Board of Directors appointed Paul L. Toth, Jr. as the President and CEO. Paul has over two decades of experience with the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority. He most recently served as Vice President of Technical and Financing Services, and prior to that as Airports Director. Paul is responsible for a staff of 50 and for all Port Authority operations which includes two airports, a multi-modal seaport, land acquisition and development activities and an innovative financing portfolio. Paul earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio. He is also a Graduate of the University of Toledo’s Graduate School of Business earning a Masters in Business Administration, specializing in finance.

The award comes from the Port Authority Community Economic Development Initiative grant and loan program.

TOLEDO, Ohio, Jan. 14. 2010 The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority along with the Port Authorities of Cleveland-Cuyahoga County and Summit County have been selected to receive a total of $7.5 million dollars over three years from First Energy Co. to support economic development and job retention projects under an agreement reached with The Ohio Manufacturers' Association (OMA).
