PORT AUTHORITY PROGRAM DIRECTOR TO BE KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT 2011 FACILITIES TRADE SHOW TOMORROW AT SEAGATE CENTRE

Toledo, Ohio – April 5, 2011 – Kevin Moyer, Director of the BetterBuildings Northwest Ohio Program, will be the keynote speaker at the 2011 Facilities Trade Show which will take place in downtown Toledo tomorrow at the SeaGate Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Moyer will speak at 10 a.m. regarding the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority Program, BetterBuildings Northwest Ohio. BetterBuildings Northwest Ohio is designed to improve buildings across Northwest Ohio by financing energy efficiency technology. The keynote address is titled Preserving Budget and Capital - Creating Cost Savings and Profit Through Energy Efficiency Projects.

Through BetterBuildings Northwest Ohio, owners of virtually every type of building are eligible for low-cost financing to pay for high-efficiency improvements to their facilities and building systems. The goal is to make cost-effective energy practices and technology more accessible to individuals, businesses and governmental entities across Northwest Ohio – while also helping transform the way whole communities use energy. Eligible entities and industries include industrial, manufacturing, commercial, retail, government, for profit/not-for-profit, educational, colleges, universities, healthcare and residential.

BetterBuildings Northwest Ohio offers financing for projects that focus on conserving energy and generating savings through equipment retrofits to existing facilities. Systems and processes among those eligible for upgrades include lighting, HVAC, compressors, refrigeration, waste energy recovery, and electrical distribution.

Interested building owners can begin the process by contacting BetterBuildings Northwest Ohio at 419.720.1102. Once eligibility for participation is established, an application is completed, which is followed by a building-wide energy audit. The audit is used to evaluate building energy usage and how to best execute sustainable energy improvements for cost savings. After completion of the audit, the building owner determines improvements to implement and finally, the financing is secured.

The 2011 Facilities Trade Show, held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow, is an educational experience for facility professionals responsible for the management, operations, maintenance, renovation and construction of non-residential buildings. The event is free and will have up to 70 top exhibitors ready to share the latest advancements, products, services and technologies in the facilities management industry.

It is the mission of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority to continuously leverage our strategic geographic position, resources and economic development proficiency to provide increased business opportunities—built upon and around our innovative transportation and logistics expertise—while promoting our community and region within the global marketplace.
